On the Issues
As your County Treasurer, I believe that public service is about more than just managing a department—it is about honoring a commitment to the taxpayers. My family has been part of this community since 1820, and that 200-year legacy drives my mission to be a vigilant guardian of your tax dollars.
Here is where I stand on the issues that matter most to our county:
Proven Accountability & Zero-Tolerance for Waste
Managing millions in public funds is not a task for a beginner. I have maintained a strong fiscal record by treating the county checkbook with the same caution and common sense I use on my own farm.
Zero-Tolerance for Waste: Every dollar lost to inefficiency is a dollar taken from our community. I have implemented robust internal controls to identify and eliminate waste before it starts.
Modernized Safeguards: We have updated our office systems to protect against modern fraud, ensuring that your tax dollars are secure from outside threats.
Proactive Transparency & Open Books Policy
You shouldn't have to jump through hoops to see how your money is spent. I have established an Open Books Policy because I believe that an informed taxpayer is the best check on government.
Accessible Financial Data: We are bringing the Treasurer’s office into the 21st century by making our financial records and reports available online and easy to navigate.
Honest Government: Transparency isn’t just a policy; it’s a mindset. My office is dedicated to providing clear, accurate, and timely information to every resident who asks.
Protecting Your Pocketbook
Inflation and rising costs are hitting every family in Vermilion County. As your Treasurer, my priority is protecting your pocketbook by ensuring our county government remains lean, efficient, and professional.
No On-The-Job Training: The Treasurer’s office deals with complex state statutes and millions in revenue. Our county cannot afford a "learning curve." I provide the experienced, steady hand needed to keep our finances beyond reproach from Day 1.
Collaborative Leadership: I work professionally with the State’s Attorney, the County Board, and our County Clerks to ensure our financial systems are ironclad. We achieve more for the taxpayer when we work together with experience and mutual respect.
